It was an honour to be present at the Indigenous Heritage and History Gathering organized by The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and the First Nations Confederacy of Cultural Education Centers. Bringing together Residential School Survivors, Inter-generational Survivors, Indigenous storytellers, keepers of knowledge, leaders, researchers, and community members, it was a space grounded in truth, memory, and responsibility to envision a better path forward. History is not distant, it is present in our language, ceremony, and families.
