I had the honour of joining Minister Rebecca Alty for the signing of a Treaty Land Entitlement agreement at Sagkeeng, a moment decades in the making and a meaningful step toward justice for this Nation.

Treaty Land Entitlement is not just a legal process. It is a community reclaiming what was always rightfully theirs. And being in that room, witnessing that signing alongside Sagkeeng leadership and community members, reminded me exactly why this work matters.
After the ceremony, I had the opportunity to sit down with Chief and Council to listen — directly and without agenda — to the priorities and needs of the Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation. Those conversations will stay with me and will inform the work this office does on their behalf.
To the leadership and people of Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation, congratulations.
This day belongs to you.
