Dinner With Fox Lake Cree Nation Leadership in Ottawa

September 22, 2026 News

One of the most meaningful ways I can serve this riding is simply this: sitting down, listening, and building the relationships that turn priorities into action.

This fall I had the privilege of hosting Fox Lake Cree Nation leadership — Chief Morris Beardy and Council — for dinner in Ottawa. It was an opportunity to hear directly about the community’s priorities, the challenges they are navigating, and the federal files that matter most to the people they represent.

These conversations are not ceremonial. They are how advocacy works. When I stand in the House of Commons or sit in a Cabinet meeting and fight for northern Manitoba, I am drawing on exactly these kinds of exchanges — the specific realities, the lived experiences, and the priorities that community leadership brings directly to my table.

Fox Lake Cree Nation is a community I am proud to represent. The conversation we had over that dinner will stay with me and will be carried into every relevant file I work on in Ottawa.

Relationship-building is not a side project to governance. It is governance.
