Seeing Manitoba’s Energy Sector Up Close — A Visit to Virden
This summer, our constituency office team travelled to Virden, Manitoba for a staff-level tour of two Manitoba-owned energy companies — Kingston Midstream and Tundra Oil and Gas.
What we saw was impressive and instructive. These are not distant multinationals extracting Manitoba’s resources and shipping the value elsewhere. These are homegrown Manitoba operations — built here, employing Manitobans, and reinvesting in this province.

As the country navigates the transition to clean energy, the future of conventional oil and gas, and growing geopolitical pressure on Canadian resource development, it is essential that federal policy reflects the real conditions on the ground — not just the view from Ottawa.
This visit was part of a deliberate effort by our office to understand Manitoba’s full economic landscape. The work Kingston Midstream and Tundra Oil and Gas are doing is Manitoba-made and Manitoba-proud. Thank you to both teams for opening your doors and showing us what you are building.
