Friday evening, I had the honour of being in the room for something truly extraordinary. 🌿
The Clan Mothers Healing Village & Knowledge Centre held their 3rd Annual Fundraiser at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights — and at the heart of it all was Elder Mae Louise Campbell, celebrating her 92nd birthday.
92 years of life. 92 years of wisdom. And every one of those years marked by a deep, unwavering commitment to supporting Indigenous women and Two-Spirit relatives in reconnecting with their strength, their healing, and their sacredness.

The evening was everything Elder Mae deserves — a premiere screening, powerful performances, an Indigenous-inspired culinary experience by award-winning Chef Luc Jean, and a room full of people who understand what Clan Mothers has built and why it matters. Hosted beautifully by Nicole Dubé and Michael Redhead Champagne, and kept moving all night by The Solutions — eight-piece funk, soul, and R&B. It was a celebration worthy of the woman at its centre.
I delivered remarks on the night, and I want to say ; The Clan Mothers Healing Village is not just a programme. It is proof that when Indigenous women lead when they are given land, resources, and the freedom to heal on their own terms extraordinary things happen. Women who once faced impossible circumstances are now sober, employed, and reunited with their children. They built a village with their own hands. And the first official intake begins this June.
That is Elder Mae's legacy walking forward in real time.
Happy 92nd Birthday, Elder Mae Louise Campbell. You are a gift to this country.
