HEALTHCARE FOR NORTHERN FAMILIES

ACCESSIBLE AND AFFORDABLE SERVICES
• $6.74 billion to Manitoba for hospitals and primary care
• $219 million for universal contraceptive and diabetes medication coverage
• $48 million for rare disease treatments
• $199 million for home and long-term care

INVESTING IN YOUTH SKILLS
• $400 per week for apprentices during in-class training
• $5,000 bonus for Red Seal certification completion
• $55 million for paid trades training in remote communities
• $195 million to expand youth programs



KEY INVESTMENTS FOR THE NORTH

 

INDIGENOUS SUPPORT:

$4.3 billion allocated for Indigenous communities, enhancing education, child and family solutions, and promoting self-sufficiency in Northern Manitoba.

 

FAMILY BENEFITS:

Families can expect $1,890 through the new Groceries and Essentials Benefit, providing crucial assistance for everyday costs starting this June.

 

APPRENTICESHIP FUNDING

Apprentices will receive $400 per week during in-class training, encouraging skill development and contributing to a stronger workforce in the region.

 



INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES: INVESTMENT FOR GROWTH

SUPPORTING LOCAL SOLUTIONS
• $601 million for K-12 education on reserve
• $700 million for Indigenous-led child and family solutions
• $794 million for Non-Insured Health Benefits Program
• Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program doubled to $10 billion


HOUSING AND INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT

BUILDING STRONGER COMMUNITIES

  • $41.9 million for factory-built housing
    • $209.8 million to Manitoba through the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund
    • Partnerships for affordable housing with Indigenous communities
    • $125 million for homelessness initiatives in regional hubs

 

AFFORDABILITY FOR NORTHERN FAMILIES

The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) will provide up to $1,890 this year for a family of four starting in June. Additional
measures include a fuel excise tax pause that reduces gas prices and capped banking fees to ensure financial support for families in need. The CGEB replaces and enhances the previous GST/HST credit. It delivers one-time lump- sum top-up (issued starting June 5, 2026) followed by a 25% increase To regular quarterly payments starting July 3, 2026.



Eligible Canadians do not need to apply, as the CRA handles it automatically based on tax returns.

What this means? June 5th:

If entitled, you can expect an additional one-time payment equal to 50% of your 2025/26 annual GST/HST credit.

July 3rd: There will be a 25% increase to the quarterly payments,
and as of July, the payments will be referred to as Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit.
